A comprehensive approach from cDNA microarray in Cancer Research

چکیده

cDNA microarray is becoming a very popular tool in cancer research from target identification to molecular classification of tumors. A large number of differentially expressed genes have been identified in nearly all known cancers as a result of microarray technology, which allows us to measure the expression of thousands of genes simultaneously. The next step will be validation and functional studies of these molecular targets in translational research and cancer pathogenesis. As the number of genes that are represented by a typical cDNA microarray has increased from a few thousands to the current platforms that can represent more than 30,000 genes, many more differentially expressed genes will soon be identified. To validate this large set of differentially expressed genes will be a major challenge in future studies. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss some current tactics to explore and validate the microarray data.
